Democrats release their own FISA memo and it has already implicated a former high ranking FBI official — James Comey

You’ve got to hand it to Democrats in Congress; when it comes time to double down on stupid, they are right on cue.

Over the weekend Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee, after completely politicizing what used to be one of the least partisan congressional committees in the entire House, released their own version of a “FISA memo” to allegedly counter the Republican memo released earlier this month.

As reported by Fox News, the Dem memo concludes — predictably — that no, no, the Obama Justice Department and FBI “did not abuse the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act process, omit material information, or subvert this vital tool to spy on the Trump campaign.”

That directly refuted the GOP memo, released by House Intel Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., claiming that the infamous anti-Trump “dossier” paid for by the campaign of Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee was used by DoJ and the FBI to obtain a warrant to spy on former Trump campaign advisor Carter Page.

Furthermore, the Dem memo claims that DoJ and FBI officials “repeatedly informed” the secretive Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court that the dossier’s author, former British spy Christopher Steele, may have had political motivations behind his report.

The Justice Department “repeatedly informed the Court about Steele’s background, credibility, and potential bias,” Fox News reported. Also, the Democrat memo maintained that DoJ was clear to the FISA court that Steele was hired by “politically motivated U.S. persons and entities and that his research appeared intended for use “to discredit” Trump’s campaign.

Incredibly, the memo also claimed that in DoJ’s FISA court requests and later FISA renewals, Obama officials provided “additional information obtained through multiple independent sources” that backed up Steele’s reporting.

This, despite the amazing dearth of actual evidence that anything Steele put in his bogus dossier was accurate; if that were the case, the Deep State would have leaked every bit of evidence it had on Trump to verify the dossier by now. (Related: When will Mueller indict Obama for interfering with the elections of Israel and other nations?)

This is where it gets interesting. As The National Sentinel reported:

However, that directly contradicts testimony given by former FBI Director James Comey last year. He told the Senate Intelligence Committee the opposite — that three months after a FISA court warrant on former Trump campaign advisor Carter Page was issued that he still considered the dossier “unverified” and “salacious” when he briefed incoming President Trump in January 2017 at Trump Tower.

Oops. Either Comey’s lying or the Democrats are; my money’s on the Dems.

Fox News reported as well that“the memo [also] did not directly challenge the Republican assertion that former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe testified to the House Committee that they would not have sought the Page surveillance warrant had it not been for that infamous dossier.”

Strike two.

Finally, a newly declassified criminal referral from Sens. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., for Steele said that President Obama’s DoJ relied “heavily” on the unverified dossier.

Strike three. Yer out, Dems!

As for their insistence that the FISA court was well notified about Steele’s political bias, Republicans pointed out that the ‘notification’ was “buried in a footnote” that actually obscures rather than clears up his motives.

“The American people now clearly understand that the FBI used political dirt paid for by the Democratic Party to spy on an American citizen from the Republican Party,” House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif. said in a statement.

“Furthermore, the FISA court was misled about Mr. Page’s past interactions with the FBI in which he helped build a case against Russian operatives in America who were brought to justice. It defies belief that the Department of Justice and FBI failed to provide information to a secret court that they had provided to an open federal court regarding their past interactions with Mr. Page,” he added.

Obama spied on Trump, straight up, making it the biggest political scandal in our history.
