It’s already one of Washington’s most poorly-kept secrets: Fired FBI Director James Comey and special counsel Robert Mueller are best of friends who have both swam for decades in the fetid D.C. swamp, mirroring each other’s careers and even both serving as head of the bureau.
But what is far less known is the amount of money both of them have made thanks to leveraging their government positions for high payola, even as they work feverishly to take down a duly-elected president neither of them believes has a “right” to sit in the Oval Office.
In an interview with Sean Hannity published by Breitbart, Seamus Bruner, a researcher with the Government Accountability Institute (GAI) and author of the book, “Compromised: How Money and Politics Drive FBI Corruption,” said that both men have managed to earn big bucks providing access to the power elite in the nation’s capital.
Bruner, who joined GAI president and Breitbart senior editor-at-large Peter Schweizer in the Hannity interview, said, “This is a familiar story [about] the revolving door; turning public service into self-service.
“We followed the money. We followed it to the top, and we found that these choir boys or Boy Scouts – as the media likes to depict them – James Comey and Robert Mueller, they’re really no better than anyone else in the swamp. They use their public service [and] their contacts and they cash in through the revolving door.”
As one example, Bruner talked about Comey’s hiring by Lockheed Martin in 2005, to be general counsel for the biggest defense contractor in the U.S.
But for all of his career up to that point, Comey had been working mostly as a U.S. attorney and a deputy attorney general (in the Bush administration) before eventually being named the FBI director.
Bruner notes that none of his prior experience qualified him to be an attorney for a major defense contractor – one that does a lot of business with the federal government.
Comey “wasn’t just consulting Lockheed Martin,” Bruner said, “he was their general counsel and senior vice president at the corporation, which begs the question, why would you choose a young (44 at the time) James Comey? He’s got no corporate experience of that kind.” (Related: As Mueller continues to round up current and former Trump associates, the very basis of his appointment is now known to be fraudulent.)
He pointed to a 2012 Huffington Post article that discussed the Next Generation identification, which was a proposed biometric database and facial recognition system the FBI commissioned Lockheed Martin to develop. It was a “billion-dollar boondoggle,” and Comey “signed off” on it as an executive with the firm, which was then authorized by Mueller.
“James Comey and Robert Mueller have this long history together going back to the nineties at the DoJ,” said Bruner.
The biometric ID program was part of a larger effort by the tag team of Comey and Mueller to broaden the government’s surveillance powers and tear down constitutional privacy protections, giving the intelligence community the kind of access to the general public that the government had in George Orwell’s “1984,” Bruner noted.
They both have sought to “’tear down the wall,’ so to speak, between intelligence agencies, and [they] had issues with ‘the going dark problem,’ where they didn’t have enough information,” he said.
Schweizer noted that “what Seamus shows here” is that when Mueller was in the private sector and Comey was working in government, “there seem to be contracts and resources that flow in that direction as well.”
The “tag team arrangement” make it clear that there is collusion between both that has corrupted the Justice Department, the bureau, and elements of the intelligence community – all of which were mobilized in the service of undermining POTUS Trump’s 2016 campaign and his presidency since.
Democrats are in on it and there aren’t enough pro-Trump Republicans who care enough to rage against the machine with the president. Maybe after the November elections, there will be.
