As the post-midterm election chaos continues in Florida, it’s worth taking a deeper look into the history of one of the counties now claiming to have “found” thousands of ballots well past the legal deadline in the state to turn all of them in after polls close.
Broward County, you may recall, was most recently in the news for the horrific shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland — and the resulting blame game and cover-up by the Broward County Sheriff’s Department, Sheriff Scott Israel, and school officials.
But Broward, long a Democrat stronghold, has long been a bastion of corruption, malfeasance, and vote fraud, the latter playing out — again — as this story posts.
Twenty-four hours after polls closed in the state, GOP gubernatorial candidate and former U.S. Congressman Ron DeSantis led his Democratic challenger, Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, by about 33,000 votes.
Meanwhile, GOP Gov. Rick Scott led Democratic incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson by about 12,000 votes — both totals of which are mathematically impossible to overcome. But after those results became apparent, election officials in Broward as well as Palm Beach County, another Democratic stronghold, suddenly began ‘finding’ ballots in some of the oddest places.
That shouldn’t matter; ballots are supposed to be turned in within a 40-hour window following elections in the state. But Democrats are now demanding that “all votes be counted” as though they weren’t on election night.
This comes after a state judge’s order last week that election officials in Broward County hand over all ballots for examination and potential re-counting — a deadline they blew off, probably because they knew they could. Why didn’t Israel simply order deputies to go arrest election officials including supervisor Brenda Snipes, who has been in legal trouble before over election shenanigans? As reported by All News Pipeline, that’s what Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan wants to know. He wrote in a post on his department’s Facebook page:
“I’m not sure how you do it in Broward County, but in Escambia County, we follow the law. When one of our judges issues and order, we follow it. And if you refuse, you go to jail. The ‘system’ works, when we all follow the rules. If you were in my county, the National News would be watching a ‘perp walk.’ The Supervisor of Elections and the attorneys being led out in handcuffs. I cannot believe what is happening in the great State of Florida. It is a disgrace. Sheriff’s do not make the law, they follow the law….to turn a blind eye is the beginning of anarchy.”
Broward is also home to Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who was up to her eyeballs in a recent scandal involving Pakistani IT workers who made “unauthorized access” to congressional data — some of it believed to be classified. She, along with 43 other House Democrats for whom the IT workers were employed, chose to exempt them from background checks.
“All of them appear to have waived background checks on Imran Awan and his family members, even though the family of server administrators could collectively read all the emails and files of 1 in 5 House Democrats, and despite background checks being recommended for such positions, according to an inspector general’s report,” The Daily Caller reported earlier this year.
As to Broward’s shady elections history, in May a court ruled that Snipes illegally destroyed ballots from the 2016 congressional race and illegally posted early voting results a half-hour before polls closed (to influence voters), along with a bevy of other ‘issues,’ the Miami Herald reported Friday.
To pass these serial violations off as ‘glitches,’ ‘mistakes,’ and ‘errors in judgment’ gets harder and harder to believe considering that the officials running elections in Broward have been doing it for some time now.
The latest round of chicanery should make it plain to anyone who is fair-minded that the Democratic machine running the county is corrupt.
