Incoming GOP Sen. Mitt Romney dives straight into the swamp with criticism of POTUS Trump

Days before he is set to be sworn in as Utah’s newest U.S. senator, twice-failed GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney has done everything he can to ingratiate himself with the very same D.C. Swamp that POTUS Donald Trump has been trying to drain.

Taking to the op-ed pages of an icon of the biased Left-wing establishment media, The Washington Post, Romney penned a scathing rebuke of the president’s personal behavior despite recognizing some of the good things he’s done.

“The Trump presidency made a deep descent in December,” Romney began his op-ed Tuesday.

As The National Sentinel noted further:

While acknowledging his opposition to POTUS in the 2016 presidential election (meaning he preferred Clinton, the most corrupt presidential nominee ever), Romney claimed that he had early hope for Trump’s presidency, complained that  “on balance, his conduct over the past two years, particularly his actions this month, is evidence that the president has not risen to the mantle of the office.”

Romney also praised POTUS for enacting “policies mainstream Republicans have promoted for years.” And he agreed with aligning “U.S. corporate taxes with those of global competitors,” as well as the president’s deregulation, crackdown down on China’s “unfair” trade practices, doing criminal justice reform, and appointments of conservative judges.

But from there Romney got personal. Bashing the president’s character, he wrote, “With the nation so divided, resentful and angry, presidential leadership in qualities of character is indispensable. And it is in this province where the incumbent’s shortfall has been most glaring.”

“To reassume our leadership in world politics, we must repair failings in our politics at home,” Romney charged. “That project begins, of course, with the highest office once again acting to inspire and unite us.”

‘He’s a fraud’

Romney’s critique, aside from his praise of the president’s policies, could have been written by any Democrat. In fact, it could have also been written about a number of Democrats, especially one named Barack Obama for overseeing and approving the politicization and criminalization of the Justice Department and U.S. intelligence community via Spygate. And of course, Obama was every bit as divisive. (Related: Donald Trump Is A Phony, A Fraud: Mitt Romney Lashes Out In Desperation Establishment Attack.)

Former Secret Service agent and noted conservative pundit and author Dan Bongino slammed Romney and other RINOs like outgoing Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona for “decimating” the Republican Party and for disenfranchising tens of millions of conservative voters who see no difference between establishment swamp rats in both parties.

“He’s a sell-out. He’s a fraud. He’s a phony. He’s a fake,” Bongino said Wednesday on Fox News’ morning show, “Fox & Friends,” The Daily Caller reports. “This is the kind of guy who has absolutely disseminated the Republican Party.”

He noted that POTUS Trump not only endorsed Romney’s Senate bid, but he also endorsed the former Massachusetts governor’s 2012 presidential bid to unseat Obama. Also, Bongino noted that the two had dinner in Manhattan recently and that POTUS interviewed Romney for possible jobs within his administration.

“You want to talk about character, you big phony fraud fake,” Bongino said of Romney. “You know what? You should have never taken that endorsement if this is how you felt. This guy’s a disgrace. He’s an embarrassment. I’m embarrassed for him, the people of Utah and anyone who supported this fraud. What a fake.”

Republican voters found out just how many of their elected leaders were frauds after POTUS Trump defeated Hillary Clinton in 2016. Despite holding majorities in both chambers of Congress, too many Republicans — mostly those who have been in DC for decades — turned on him and would not support initiatives they once backed like border walls/fences, repealing Obamacare, and true immigration reform.

And now it looks like Republican voters, in Utah anyway, have been fooled again.
